天空之路‧Skyway

天空之路說的是遷徙的事，是移民的事，是夢想與現實之間的事

也是跨越兩個以上不同文化的心路演練

　　這次展出的三件作品，完全以影像為主，一件（’Skyway’）反映我在今年三月動身前往澳洲雪梨駐村前後的感受，透過觀察角度與環境的影像紀錄表達出來；一件（’Lullaby’）是呈現澳大雪梨馬力維市移民社會和多元文化風貌的錄影紀錄。另一件（’Taichi’）則是反映了我自身在跨越兩地不同的環境、社會脈絡時，對「跨越」這一動作的文化、心理糾纏之體悟，因而也開啟了之後紀錄’Lullaby’的創作。

　　對於一個長年深居簡出的的創作者來說，花八、九個小時在天空飛行才抵達駐村目的地澳洲，實在是個印象深刻的經驗，不只是地理空間的變化，時間的差異等物理性質的改變；一個全然陌生的環境與社會，已即出發前對一切未知的揣測與不確定的恐懼，儼然也在生物性的不安穩之外，帶來人文和心理上的衝擊。正因如此，我的視野被打開了，創作的觸角從純粹的個體內再省視伸向外在的文化與社會角度。

　　天空本來就是人們想像中的希望寄託之所在，於今更成為旅客來來往往的交通航道，通過了航道，前往各自的理想美地。天空之路代表著追求夢想的途徑和實踐，姑且不論是夢醒或者夢碎；也反映人類所具有的共通性質，無論是移民、或是創作者。

This show is about migration, about immigrants, about the distance between

dreams and realization.

It’s also about the experience of crossing cultures.

  In this show, I will play three videos, which I developed and completed during my residency at Marrickville Council, Australia from March to May 2004. One of them - the ‘Skyway, use images from environment at difference angles to reflect the cultural diversity in the time of traveling. Another one – the ‘Lullaby’, is to reflect the cultural diversity in Marrickville Council, a society embraces immigrants from different backgrounds. I use ‘lullaby’ as a metaphor of parent culture, and through the singing of different languages, to disclose the social process of enculturation, acculturation and cultural invention.

  Between them is ‘Taichi’, a transition which reminds me that as human beings we grow up and get cultured in one society, then the invisible cultural baggage is always carried over when we move elsewhere and think ourselves carefree with any literal luggage, thus inspired me to record lullabies.
